Biography

Meet Adam Slater — class action lawyer in New York

Adam Slater is an attorney based in New York, NEW YORK. The practice focuses on Class Action, Personal Injury, and Product Liability. Currently practicing at Slater Slater Schulman LLP.

Adam Slater is the Founding and Managing Partner of Slater Slater Schulman LLP and leads the Firm’s litigation practice. He has achieved successful resolutions in some of the most challenging cases in the country, and his recent work centers around complex, historical sexual abuse cases involving youth organizations, religious institutions, medical institutions, and schools and universities.

Adam is a powerful advocate for survivors of sexual assault and regularly delivers landmark results for his clients. He served as a co-lead in negotiations with Los Angeles County on behalf of 3,500 survivors of child sexual assault, delivering a $4 billion settlement in April 2024, the largest of its kind in U.S. history. Under Adam’s leadership, Slater Slater Schulman successfully negotiated a $116.2 million settlement with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), bringing long-awaited justice to over 100 survivors of sexual abuse, marking the largest settlement ever paid by the BOP. In a span of three weeks in 2024, Adam secured record settlements for hundreds of clients, including $1.2 billion in settlements with Catholic Archdioceses in Los Angeles and New York. He also successfully negotiated a $320 million settlement with the Diocese of Rockville Centre in New York, the largest Diocese settlement in the history of New York State, and the first Diocese settlement to be reached nationwide following the Supreme Court’s recent Purdue Pharma decision relating to non-consensual third-party releases. Ahead of the record $2.46 billion settlement reached on behalf of former Boy Scouts of America members, Adam co-founded the Coalition of Abused Scouts for Justice, served as a lead negotiator for the reorganization plan, and was appointed to serve on the seven-person Settlement Trust Advisory Committee tasked with overseeing the distribution of claims as fairly, efficiently and expeditiously as possible.

Under Adam’s direction, Slater Slater Schulman filed approximately 1,800 cases under New York State’s Adult Survivors Act, the most of any law firm, as well as more than 720 Child Victims Act cases in New York and more than 8,400 CVA cases nationally.

In 2021, Adam reached a $71.5 million settlement on behalf of 79 former patients who were sexually assaulted by predatory gynecologist Robert Hadden and he has distinguished himself as a force to be reckoned with on rideshare litigation, representing hundreds of survivors of sexual assaults committed in Uber and Lyft vehicles, while battling major tech and transportation giants to obtain greater rider protections.

As a Firm leader, Adam has played an integral role in the expansion of Slater Slater Schulman LLP, growing its presence from a single office in New York to more than 11 offices in 10 states. A native New Yorker, Adam’s first clients were survivors of the 9/11 terror attacks, which set him on a course in his career to focus on high-impact cases that not only help individuals but transform organizations and institutions for the better.

Throughout his career, Adam has received numerous awards and accolades for his exceptional legal work, including recognition as one of Forbes Best-In-State Lawyers (2025), Law360’s Titan of the Plaintiffs Bar (2025), Best Lawyers in America® (2025), Forbes’ America’s Top 200 Lawyers (2024), and Lawdragon’s 500 Global Plaintiff Lawyers (2024-2025).
