1. The service
LawyersListed is an online directory and publishing platform that helps consumers find and compare licensed attorneys, read legal information, ask public questions, and contact or book attorneys. We are a directory, not a law firm: we do not practice law, do not select counsel for you, and are not a lawyer referral service as defined by most state bar rules.
2. No legal advice; no attorney-client relationship
- Content on the service — including articles, Q&A answers and profile descriptions — is general information, not legal advice.
- Using the service, contacting an attorney through it, or receiving an answer to a public question does not create an attorney-client relationship with LawyersListed or with any attorney.
- An attorney-client relationship arises only by express agreement between you and an attorney, typically via an engagement letter.
- Public areas of the service are not confidential. Do not post privileged or sensitive case details.
3. Attorney listings & advertising
Directory profiles are compiled from public bar records and content supplied by attorneys. Verification reflects the official record at the time of checking, as described in our editorial policy. We do not endorse, recommend or vouch for any specific attorney, and past results do not guarantee a similar outcome. Portions of this site may constitute attorney advertising under the rules of some jurisdictions. The choice of a lawyer is an important decision and should not be based solely on advertisements.
4. Accounts
- You must be at least 18 to create an account and must provide accurate information.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for activity under your account.
- Attorneys claiming a profile represent that they are the licensed professional the profile describes; misrepresentation is grounds for immediate termination and may be reported to the relevant bar.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- post false, deceptive, defamatory or unlawful content, including fake reviews;
- scrape, harvest or bulk-export directory data without our written permission;
- interfere with the operation or security of the service;
- use the service to spam, harass or solicit attorneys or users;
- impersonate any person, attorney or firm.
6. User content
You retain ownership of content you post (reviews, questions, profiles) and grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, adapt and distribute it in connection with the service. You represent that you have the rights to the content you post. We may moderate, edit for format, or remove content that violates these terms or our policies.
7. Paid services
Attorney subscriptions and featured placements are billed in advance on a recurring basis and renew automatically until cancelled. Consumer-facing directory search is free. Fees are stated before purchase; taxes may apply. Except where required by law or expressly stated, payments are non-refundable. Billing questions: billing@lawyerslisted.com.
8. Intellectual property
The service, including its software, design, trademarks and editorial content, is owned by LawyersListed, Inc. or its licensors and protected by US and international law. These terms grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the service for its intended purpose.
9. Copyright (DMCA)
We respond to notices that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Send takedown notices to our designated agent at dmca@lawyerslisted.com or by mail to LawyersListed, Inc., 1330 Avenue of the Americas, Suite 23A, New York, NY 10019. We terminate repeat infringers.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT DIRECTORY DATA IS COMPLETE, CURRENT OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY ATTORNEY WILL ACCEPT YOUR MATTER OR ACHIEVE ANY RESULT.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LAWYERSLISTED, INC. WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR THE ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF ANY ATTORNEY YOU ENGAGE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
12. Indemnity
You will indemnify and hold LawyersListed, Inc. harmless from claims arising out of your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms.
13. Disputes, arbitration & class waiver
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally within 30 days of written notice to legal@lawyerslisted.com shall be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association in New York County, New York, except that either party may bring qualifying claims in small-claims court. You and LawyersListed each waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these terms by emailing legal@lawyerslisted.com.
14. Termination
You may stop using the service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, legal risk or extended inactivity. Sections that by their nature should survive (IP, disclaimers, liability limits, disputes) survive termination.
15. Changes
We may revise these terms. Material changes will be announced on this page at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
