During her absence, Ms. Skier was the Director of Case Management with a trauma center facility. She was the Director of Appeals and Grievance, oversight management and provider disputes with two Los Angeles based managed care companies. She has extensive knowledge in the areas of Medicare, Medi-cal, Medi-Connect and commercial organizations. She worked as a Case Management Auditor for the Department of Health Care Services, which is invaluable to the knowledge of the Knox-Keene requirements.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Skier was an emergency room nurse and a critical care nurse. She worked while going through law school, as a critical care nurse. Ms. Skier was the patient advocate with the Kaiser system for Los Angeles and Panorama City. She became the Director of Quality Management at the Woodland Hills facility and was transferred to Northern California, as the Assistant Director of Member Services, in charge of the east bay facilities. She served as the Co-chair of the Bio-ethics committee for Panorama City, Kaiser.

Ms. Skier was employed by a Bad Faith firm, in which she was assistant to the partners, who won 125 million dollars in punitive damages against a health plan. Personally, she is a strong advocate for the member/patient rights. She is a supporter of indigent care and treatment. She is an Elder of her church, participating in feeding and housing the homeless, supporting children education in Mexico and participates in the building a youth programs for the local area schools.
