I have long opposed corporate America and their wrong doings. One of my main driving forces for staying with our great firm for so long is I need to represent the people against the corporations — for the harms their malfeasance has caused to the very fabric of our society. The need to obtain recoveries for my clients, and to continue to punish and deter these corporations from committing future wrongs, are my driving forces.

Benjamin T. Clinton has officially joined Weitz & Luxenberg’s team of experienced mesothelioma and asbestos exposure litigators as an associate attorney. He originally accepted a position as a paralegal in this practice area with the firm and quickly learned this was where he wanted to be.

He is working on several cases for our clients suffering from asbestos related illnesses. This includes mesothelioma and ovarian cancer caused by talcum powder.

Asbestos Causes Cancer

“Asbestos is a carcinogen. Each and every time you are exposed to asbestos, you run the risk of developing an aggressive cancer or another asbestos related disease down the road,” says Mr. Clinton.

“To put it in plain words, there is no safe exposure level in breathing in asbestos fibers. The diseases that develop, often decades later, are debilitating and deadly. And there is no cure,” he adds.

Earlier Work Experience

In 2008, Mr. Clinton served as a paralegal at another plaintiffs’ law firm in Baltimore, Maryland. The firm handled personal injury cases. Mr. Clinton was a certified examiner and e-claims filer in the bankruptcy department. He also chronicled cases and worked with clients, vendors, trust claim reviewers, and other law firms.

From late 2005 until mid-2006, Mr. Clinton served as assistant director of fundraising and membership building for the Fund for Public Interest Research in Baltimore. He ran local campaigns for organizations such as the Sierra Club, the Human Rights Campaign, Environment Maryland, the Maryland Public Interest Research Group, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. He coordinated campaigns, managed the organization’s database, and arranged press conferences that focused on consumer protections and lobbying efforts aimed at regulating corporate America’s harmful impacts on the environment and public health.

Mr. Clinton also worked for the Fund for Public Interest Research in Amherst, Massachusetts, in 2005. He served as field manager, receiving and processing monetary contributions, contributing to Op-Eds published in local media, and preparing daily reports on team accomplishments revolving around consumer and environmental protections.

We Must Hold Negligent Corporations Accountable

Of these and previous college experiences, Mr. Clinton explains, “In my track record, I developed a desire to hold corporations accountable for their bad deeds as long as I can remember. During my undergraduate study I was a member of the Campus Green Party to promote the use of alternative fuels for automobiles.

Mr. Clinton earned his J.D. from the City University of New York School of Law in Long Island City. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina in Wilmington.

On the Personal Side

Outside the office, Mr. Clinton loves spending time with his 7-year-old son. “He’s the best,” Mr. Clinton insists. They both enjoy outdoor sports, including basketball and skiing.

Mr. Clinton also loves bicycling, hiking, paddleboarding, kayaking, and being on the water in general. Plus, he loves attending Mets and Knicks games.
