Mr. Nelson was raised in Orange County, California. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2008. He attended Chapman University School of Law (now called Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law), where he obtained his juris doctorate in 2011. Mr. Nelson started with Ringstad & Sanders LLP as a summer clerk during the summer of 2009, and returned as a summer clerk in the summer of 2010. After taking the California Bar examination in July of 2011, Mr. Nelson worked for Ringstad & Sanders LLP as a post-bar clerk until November, 2011, when he officially passed the California Bar examination. After being sworn in to practice before the Federal District Courts in the Central District and Southern District of California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of California, he became an associate attorney with Ringstad & Sanders LLP. As an associate, Mr. Nelson has gained considerable experience in all areas of bankruptcy law and practice, especially in representing creditors, creditors committees, and debtors in complex corporate restructuring cases under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code.
