Mr. Long is a graduate of the College of William and Mary, where he was the captain of the varsity wrestling team. After graduation, Mr. Long coached high school wrestling for five years, during which he was named coach of the year and Vice President of the Virginia Independent School Wrestling Association. He then enrolled in the Washington and Lee School of Law, which is one of the top twenty-five law schools in the United States. During law school, Mr. Long interned with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in Loudoun County and clerked for a federal judge in Philadelphia. After graduating from law school, Mr. Long settled down in Richmond, Virginia, where he worked at the Public Defender’s Office in the City of Richmond. Mr. Long rose to the level of Deputy Public Defender while handling cases ranging from misdemeanor traffic offenses to murder, rape and arson. Mr. Long developed a reputation as both a exceptional litigator and a shrewd negotiator. After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Mr. Long became a partner at the law firm of Meyer, Baldwin, Long & Moore, where he continues to defend citizens against the Commonwealth of Virginia.
