David has worked for multiple cities and counties, including serving as the City Attorney for Perry, Georgia for the last 26 years. He is currently the City Attorney for Hawkinsville, Georgia, as well. For the past 14 years, David has been the prosecutor for the Perry Municipal Court. He also is the attorney for the Downtown Development Authority of the City of Perry and for the Perry Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

David is active in community affairs. He is the Past-President of the Perry Exchange Club and Past-Chairman of the Westfield Schools Board of Trustees. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Houston County Bar Association.

David and his wife, Deborah, have three grown children and one grandchild. They are members of the Perry United Methodist Church where David served as the Chairman of the Administrative Board and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

David is an avid runner. He has competed in many races, including in the Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta several times. David also ran the IMG half-marathon in Atlanta and in 2011, he ran and completed the Robins Air Force Base Museum of Aviation marathon.
