She attended Columbia University in New York City for her undergraduate degree, and matriculated at the University of South Carolina for law school. Upon graduation, she practiced as a public defender in Greenville, South Carolina. While there, she tried Homicide by Child Abuse, Attempted Criminal Sexual Conduct, Breach of Trust, Cruelty to Children, Armed Robbery, and Burglary. She gained an in-depth knowledge of the criminal justice system, and worked hard for every client.
After moving to the District of Columbia, Ms. Mitchell began working for Legal Services of Northern Virginia in the Fairfax office. She tried all manner of family law cases, including child custody, visitation, support, Orders of Protection, and divorce. She worked primarily with victims of domestic violence who had children, and worked closely with law enforcement and the Commonwealth’s Office to protect the families in need of aid.
While in private practice in Virginia, Ms. Mitchell obtained a Not Guilty jury verdict on a Felony Hit and Run and Assault and Battery. She represents clients in traffic and criminal court, as well as Juvenile and Domestic Relations.
