F. Boyd Hovde was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 7, 1934. He was admitted to the Indiana bar in 1959 and in 1977 was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a graduate of Princeton University (B.A., 1956) and the University of Michigan School of Law (J.D., 1959) where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the Indiana College of Trial Lawyers. He was a member of the Indiana Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness from 1976 to 2000 and its Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure from 1980 to 1992. From 1984 to 1992, he served on the Board of Visitors of Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis. He is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and served as its Treasurer, Vice President, and President in 1979. He is also a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and American Bar Association. He is a member of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, having served as president in 1976 - 1977 and is a lifetime Director of that Association. He is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
