Jacob received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Tulsa in Economics and Sociology. During his undergraduate studies, he was an active member in Lambda Chi Alpha, participated in undergraduate research, and studied abroad in Uganda. After graduation, Jacob taught English in Bulgaria under a Fulbright Grant. Upon completion of his Fulbright, Jacob joined Teach for America in Kansas City. He taught high school math at Hogan Preparatory Academy and coached their debate team.

Jacob received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2019, where he was a Rice Scholar and graduated Order of Coif. While at KU Law, Jacob served as Publication Editor for the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy, completed an externship in the Federal District Court of Kansas, and served as a teaching assistant in Lawyering Skills class. Jacob received five awards for receiving the highest grade in individual classes, including Trusts and Estates, Land Transactions, and Contract Drafting. In 2019, the Kansas Journal of Law and Public Policy published his paper on water law and water banks in Western Kansas. The paper also won Jacob the Shapiro award. At graduation, Jacob received the Justice Lloyd Kagey Leadership Award, given to the graduate who has most distinguished himself or herself through leadership in law school.
