Jeb thrives in litigation against powerful defendants. He takes pride in doing everything well—whether tracking down witnesses, deposing experts, writing briefs, arguing a case at trial, or defending a verdict on appeal. He has won multiple jury verdicts, including a wrongful death verdict of $150 million. He devotes his practice to representing the people against the powerful. Jeb is also the proud husband of Anne Butler, father of Farrah “Little Bomber” Butler, father of James E. Butler IV (“Jim”), and companion of Lou, his labrador retriever.
Jeb is very proud of what our firm has been able to do for people in need. Of course in order for our firm to be generous, we must first be successful.
The legal community has recognized Jeb’s ability. While a student at the University of Georgia School of Law, Jeb published on the Law Review, argued for the National Moot Court Team, finished near the top of several Mock Trial tournaments, and graduated in the top 10% of his class with magna cum laude honors. Since graduating, he has been named Georgia’s Young Litigator of the Year, a Daily Report “On The Rise” Lawyer, a SuperLawyers Rising Star, one of Georgia Trend’s Legal Elite, and one of the National Trial Lawyers’ Top 100. Jeb has seen the courtroom from every angle. He has tried and won cases on behalf of grieving families, injured plaintiffs, the State of Georgia, and an accused who could not afford a lawyer. He has served as a law clerk to the Honorable Lisa Godbey Wood in the Southern District of Georgia, tried multiple cases with the Clayton County District Attorney’s office, and worked at prominent civil defense firms. In short, Jeb has seen the courtroom from the viewpoint of plaintiff, prosecutor, judge, civil defendant, and criminal defendant.
Jeb grew up hunting, fishing, and playing football around Columbus, Georgia. After graduating cum laude from Vanderbilt University, he attended the Summer Institute at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and worked on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. for a U.S. Congressman.
