John Paul Michaelson is the owner and managing partner of Michaelson Law. Since joining the firm in 2003, he has enjoyed helping thousands of clients build and protect their businesses and estates. John is an active member of WealthCounsel, ElderCounsel, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys – all organizations that are dedicated to fostering excellence in the legal community or service. Previously, John also served as president of the Nevada WealthCounsel Forum and general counsel for of the Veterans Action Group, a local nonprofit organization. John also chaired the Elder Law Section of the Nevada State Bar from June 2007 to July 2008. Prior to his time at Michaelson Law, John worked as an associate attorney at DLA Piper, a top international law firm. While there, he specialized in labor and employment litigation, primarily in federal court. John also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert J. Johnston, United States District Court for the District of Nevada. John was admitted to the Nevada Bar in 2001. Earlier that same year, he received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah. While in law school, John was a senior staff member of the Utah Law Review and co-founder of the Law Students for Children, an advocacy organization for abused, neglected and underprivileged children. He has continued his advocacy for the youth by being an active scouter in the Boy Scouts of America and by maintaining his pledge as an Eagle Scout to serve the community, both young and old. Before attending law school, John worked for over two years as a securities broker for Fidelity Investments with trading experience in stocks, bonds, mutual funds and options. He graduated from Utah State University in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance. John met his wife, Regina, while attending Utah State University. They have been happily married for nearly 30 years and have four beautiful children. John enjoys motorcycles, camping, and going to movies with his family in his spare time.
