Kevin Bilms is admitted to practice law in New York, Virginia, Massachusetts, the U.S. Federal Court for New York and Virginia, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. After graduation, Kevin worked as a prosecutor in the Office of the Corporation Counsel in New York City. In 1987, he was promoted to Deputy Borough Chief of the Corporation Counsel’s Family Court Division for New York County. Upon leaving the Corporation Counsel’s office, Kevin went to work for the Long Island Railroad, where he was a Senior Attorney in the Law Department’s Litigation Department. Kevin began his practice in mass torts in 1991, when he went to work as in-house trial counsel for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company in New York City. He worked on cases involving asbestos, DES, L-tryptophan and defective construction products. In 1992, Kevin began representing injured railroad employees in FELA cases throughout the Eastern United States. He tried cases in state and federal courts in Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, New York, Indiana, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

In 1999, Kevin joined our firm in the Virginia office. Since then, he has brought his extensive and varied experience to our representation of the victims of asbestos exposure. He was involved in the consolidated trial of 1,200 asbestos claims in Newport News Circuit Court in 2001, which resulted in a liability verdict against C.E. Thurston & Sons, as well as the settlement of all claims against several other companies. In addition to representing our asbestos clients, Kevin also handles workers’ compensation and personal injury claims under federal and Virginia state law. Kevin is a huge baseball fan, and has coached numerous teams, including AAU and the Junior Varsity and Varsity baseball teams at Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School.
