In his more than 13 years of practice, Mr. Katz has counseled his clients in the areas of Federal and State Income and Estate Taxation; State and Local Real Property Taxation; Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust Administration; Business Organizations and Business Transactions; Real Estate, and Health Care Transactions. Mr. Katz has handled several disputes before the IRS and the Nevada Department of Taxation. Mr. Katz has lectured at several continuing education seminars on business organizations, business transactions, and tax issues, including, income and real property tax issues, §1031 like-kind exchange issues, partnership taxation, and taxation of S Corporations. Mr. Katz co-authored one of the first articles on the "Spendthrift Trust Act of Nevada" following the enactment of amendments to it that now allow clients to create Nevada Asset Protection Trusts. Mr. Katz earned his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas in May, 1994; his J.D. (cum laude) from Suffolk University Law School, Boston, MA in May 1997; and his LL.M. (taxation) from Boston University School of Law in May 1998. While at Suffolk Law School, Mr. Katz served as Research Assistant to Professor Russell Murphy during the 1995-1996 academic year. Mr. Katz is admitted to the State Bar of Nevada, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada and the U.S. Tax Court.
