Michael A. Giannasca is a lawyer in New York and Connecticut who also holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Since entering the practice of law in 2000, Mr. Giannasca has represented clients in a myriad of matters concerning contract disputes, construction law, commercial litigation, business transactions and real estate transactions. He has extensive familiarity with the construction industry, having held various construction related positions, which augments the representation of his clients in construction related transactions and disputes. A large part of his client base consists of contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, suppliers, sureties, business owners and homeowners. To further meet the needs of his broad client base Mr. Giannasca also assists his clients in Elder Law, Estate Planning and Estate Administration.
For more than 16 years Mr. Giannasca has represented clients with respect to construction contract claims and disputes, mechanic’s liens, surety bond claims, OSHA violations, union issues, public bid disputes and a myriad of other construction and real estate related matters. Representing both plaintiffs and defendants, he has litigated and arbitrated payment claims, breach of contract claims, extra work claims, delay and disruption claims, defective work claims, termination claims and lien foreclosure actions arising out of construction projects in the public and private sectors.
Having served as general and in-house counsel to various contractors, subcontractors and developers, Mr. Giannasca also has vast experience in drafting and negotiating contracts and subcontracts, reviewing project general conditions for notice requirements and contract procedures, and preparing essential correspondence and notices related to construction contract requirements. As a New York construction lawyer Mr. Giannasca is also intimately familiar with the general conditions, contract terms and administrative procedures for such municipal agencies as the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (“DASNY”), the New York State Office of General Services (“OGS”), the State University Construction Fund (“SUCF”), the New York City School Construction Authority (“SCA”), the New York City Department of Design and Construction (“DDC”) among various other state, county and local municipalities and agencies.
Mr. Giannasca is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the State of Connecticut. He is also admitted to practice law before the United States Districts Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. He received his Juris Doctor Law degree, magna cum laude, from Pace University School of Law and received his Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering, cum laude, from Manhattan College.
