Michael Piggins rejoined Weitz & Luxenberg’s Detroit Office in 2025 and works on the firm’s Roundup, insulin, and social media litigation teams.
Previously, Mr. Piggins worked as part of Weitz & Luxenberg’s opioid litigation team, representing cities and counties across the country against pharmaceutical companies who created a national opioid crisis through their misleading marketing and reckless supplying of opioids.
In this role, Mr. Piggins demonstrated his prowess as a researcher, investigating the conduct of the pharmaceutical companies that caused this crisis. He has also proven his abilities as a writer, participating in multiple rounds of successful briefings on behalf of city and county clients.
Mr. Piggins received his bachelor’s degree from Wabash College and his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School. During his time in law school, Mr. Piggins served on the board of the Free Legal Aid Clinic, representing victims of domestic violence against their abusers in family court, and on the Wayne Law Review.
Mr. Piggins grew up in West Michigan and now lives in Detroit. In his spare time, you can find him on the golf course, at home spending time with his wife and son, exploring the beautiful wilderness of Michigan, or rooting on Michigan State and Detroit sports teams.
