After graduation, he served for two years as a law clerk to the Honorable Michael J. Watanabe, formerly District Court Judge, Arapahoe County, 18th Judicial District and now Magistrate Judge, United States District Court for the State of Colorado. Thereafter, Mr. Lancto joined Nathan Dumm & Mayer P.C.
Since joining this firm 23 years ago as an associate and continuing today as a shareholder and trial lawyer, Mike has been involved in all aspects of insurance defense litigation in personal injury, property damage, commercial liability claims before the District Courts of the State of Colorado and the U.S. District Court. This work has included premises liability, construction defect litigation, automobile related claims, bad faith claims, legal malpractice, product liability and dram shop liability claims. He has represented both subcontractors and general contractors in construction defect litigation.
Mike has had positive outcomes in many trials and arbitrations he had participated in.
Mike lectures and gives presentations to business and claim's handling organizations. Upon request, he serves as an arbitrator or mediator in selected civil cases. He is a member of the Colorado Defense Lawyers' Association, Defense Research Institute, Arapahoe County, Jefferson County and Colorado Bar Associations.
