Ms. Given takes on cases both big and small and has experience working on complex financial matters for clients with multi-million dollar businesses and assets and on hotly contested custody trials. Ms. Given is a certified mediator and is passionate about helping clients resolve disputes via mediation when appropriate. Many clients are not aware of mediation as an option. Through mediation, Ms. Given serves as a neutral third party to help clients resolve their issues together. This saves clients an enormous amount of money and time and also allows them to generate a customized settlement agreement uniquely tailored to their specific family needs.
Ms. Given is also a member of Collaborative Divorce Illinois and has received specialized training in the Collaborative Divorce process, enabling her clients to stay out of court and resolve even very complex disputes through strategic negotiation and support.
Ms. Given has represented clients throughout every stage of the divorce process and is known for her compassionate and detailed approach to family law. She recognizes the importance of not only serving as a lawyer but also as a counselor to her clients. Clients come to Ms. Given during some of the most difficult times of their lives, and Ms. Given understands how to help them through these challenges by being responsive and fully explaining the legal process from the beginning of each case. A particular area of family law where Ms. Given flourishes is with cases involving children. Fortunately, Ms. Given has the dedication and experience to handle such situations.
Ms. Given has been exclusively practicing in the area of family law since graduating law school. She began her career in Washington, DC, representing and advocating for victims of domestic abuse as a law fellow at the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project. Ms. Given returned to Chicago in 2014 to work with the Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Family Services, where she provided legal services to under-represented men and women going through difficult contested divorces. Ms. Given joined the Taradash Group in December 2014, inspired by Mr. Taradash’s personalized approach to family law, and his deep commitment to his clients. In 2019 she was elevated to partner and is now a named partner at Taradash Given.
Ms. Given is the Legal Chair of the Chicago chapter of the Amicable Divorce Network.
She received her Juris Doctor from the George Washington University Law School. In law school, she was recognized as a Thurgood Marshall Scholar and was also a recipient of the George Washington Presidential Merit Scholarship and Dean’s Pro Bono Service Award. Ms. Given graduated from DePaul University magna cum laude with Bachelor of Arts degrees in History and English.
