Patrick has presented written or oral argument to numerous federal and state appellate courts. He has served as counsel of record on a brief to the United States Supreme Court and has presented briefing and oral argument to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He also maintains an active pro bono practice, including reversing a wrongful conviction and obtaining asylum for a child who fled her home country as a result of physical and sexual violence.

Patrick’s advocacy for his clients extends beyond the courtroom. He has served the Maryland Association of Justice (MAJ) in a variety of capacities, including current positions in the Board of Governors and Executive Committee. On behalf of MAJ, he has testified numerous times before the Maryland General Assembly to advocate for fair treatment of injured and disadvantaged people. He is the 2022 recipient of the Robert J. Zarbin Legislative Advocacy Award from MAJ.

Patrick has also been an author of numerous amicus (“friend of the court”) briefs on civil justice issues submitted to state and federal appellate courts.

Patrick has been recognized as a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, as a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, as a member of Super Lawyers®, and as Distinguished Justice Advocate.

Patrick is admitted to practice in state and federal district courts in Illinois, Maryland, and Minnesota, as well as the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, and Sixth Circuits and the United States Supreme Court.
