Paul Howard Silverman, Bankruptcy Attorney in New York

Paul H. Silverman, concentrates on corporate reorganization, commercial litigation, creditors' & debtors' domestic and foreign cross-border strategies and forensic investigations. Paul has tried civil and criminal cases to conclusion. He serves as U.S. legal advisor to court appointed foreign court appointed administrators and by invitation, he has lectured in the U.S. and in Europe.

Mr. Silverman's government service includes: Assistant in the Office of the U.S. Attorney General (O.D.A.L.E.), Assistant U.S. Attorney, S.D.N.Y. (criminal and civil divisions, tax and bankruptcy units). He lectured at the N.Y. State, as well as at the American, Bar Association's Annual Meetings, at the Law and Finance Graduate Program (Frankfurt), and at the E.U. Commission on State Aid recovery (Belgium). Mr. Silverman spoke on comparative law at the C.S. Beck publisher's Annual German National Insolvency Conference (Frankfurt), and also to financial restructuring professionals in Paris, Madrid, Prague, Helskinki & throughout Germany.

Paul served as federal law clerk to Honorable Thomas Croake, Southern District of New York, graduated from Fordham Law School in New York (Fordham Law review). He received his B.A. degree in Philosophy and in History from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, national leadership honorary society, and president of Alpha Psi Omega, national dramatic honorary society. He is a long standing member of the N.Y. State Bar Association, now Business Section Chair and past Bankruptcy Committee Chairperson, a member of the International Bar and of the City Bar Banking and the Bankruptcy Committee. Paul serves as budget committee chair, Village of Larchmont, NY, former president of his synagogue and Horseshoe Harbor Yacht Club secretary, where he and his wife kayak.

Representative Experience: Mr. Silverman has represented debtors, creditors' committees, and creditors, authored confirmed plans providing creditor distributions, and purchaser's of distressed assets as well as successfully conducted out-of-court work-out arrangements. As to litigation, he resolved, through pre-trial mediation, a complex and sensitive Federal Court defense in which the well-known corporate client was very grateful. He created unique intertwined trust features assisting resolution of the $2+ billion Dalkon Shield mass tort bankruptcy court reorganization plan and was counsel in Enron, World Com, Daewoo, AgfaPhoto, Quimonda and Edscha cases. Paul counsels German receivers of global mfg., distribution, and finance companies as to U.S. law. Paul timely obtained a U.S. injunction enabling Multicanal, a cable provider, to reorganize in Argentina and protected Daewoo's Korean Receiver's U.S. interests. Further, Paul succeeded in an international fraud investigation and trial with a $10+ million U.K. client asset recovery
