Philipp also has experience with pre-suit investigation, motion practice, and discovery for numerous cases dealing with a wide range of complex legal issues, including inter partes reviews. His experience is diverse, including IP involving a wide range of mechanical and electrical technologies.

As a practitioner, Philipp is particularly gifted at grasping the intricacies of complex products and technologies quickly. Especially with respect to mechanical technologies, he has a very strong technical understanding of function, manufacture and operation. This capability is frequently brought to bear in his various opinion work, particularly providing detailed non-infringement opinions. He has a special facility for creating succinct, effective visual opinions. Philipp graduated summa cum laude from DePaul University College of Law, where he was the President of the Intellectual Property Law Society, and an active member of the Appellate Moot Court Society. In addition, Philipp served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Amy J. St. Eve of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. During law school, Philipp received the Intellectual Property Legal Writing Award for his work in his IP-focused legal writing courses. Philipp was inducted into the Order of the Coif in 2016.

Prior to law school, Philipp earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. While at the University of Cincinnati, Philipp co-oped with both BMW Manufacturing and the Dow Chemical Company where he worked on a variety of engineering projects including manufacturing process planning and plant efficiency optimization.
