He previously served as a managing principal for an insurance and financial services agency, where he managed two offices and built a multi-million-dollar book of business.

While in law school, Mr. Hamawi interned for the Honorable John Corbett O’Meara, Federal Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. He also interned for the United States Department of Justice in the United States Attorney’s Office in Detroit.

While in law school, Mr. Hamawi also served on the Cooley Law Review Board of Editors as a Symposium Editor, where he received the Law Review Board Award for the most significant contributions to the Law Review Board during his tenure. He also served on the Moot Court and Mock Trial Executive Boards, and was a member of Cooley’s National Trial Team. Upon graduation, he received the Student Leadership Achievement Award for his outstanding participation in a leadership role during law school. He is bilingual and fluent in Arabic.

Mr. Hamawi has also taught as an adjunct professor teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in Personal and Corporate Finance, Risk Management, and Insurance and Financial Planning at the University of Phoenix, Davenport University, and Southern New Hampshire University.
