Riley was born in Aurora, Nebraska and had the good sense to move to Colorado when he was 2 years old. He graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2000.

Riley received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law in 2004. He was admitted to the Colorado Bar in October 2004. He is a member of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations, and is active in the Family Law Section and Young Lawyer’s Division. Riley is a member of the Faculty of Federal Advocates and is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.

Riley serves as a board member for the Central Visitation Program. CVP is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe, supervised and comfortable setting for court ordered visits between children and parents of low-income families involved in high conflict divorce, custody and/or restraining order proceedings.

Riley was the revisor author of the “Attorney’s Fees” chapter in the 2006 Domestic Relations Law & Orders Bench Book.In his spare time, Riley enjoys cycling, running, fly-fishing, skiing, traveling and reading.
