After graduating law school at California Western in 1984, I passed the California Bar Exam on the first try and entered the practice of law in November of 1984. My first job was in a small civil litigation firm by the name of Treitler & Montasano. In 1987 I joined Stutz, Artiano, Gallagher, Shinoff & Holtz where my primary area of practice was construction defect litigation specializing in the representation of General Contractors and Developers. I also handled many general liability cases regarding property damage and professional liability matters and became a partner in the firm in 2007. In 2010, I was recruited by the Director of Construction Defect Litigation at Zurich to open up a Zurich Staff Legal office in San Diego representing only Zurich’s General Contractor and Developer insureds. In 2015, I was asked to take over the management of a sister Staff Legal office in Concord, California, also representing General Contractors and Developers. In 2018, Zurich discontinued its Developer/GC Staff Legal offices and I joined Lorber, Greenfield and Polito as a Senior Partner. All of the cases from the San Diego and Concord Staff Legal Offices were transferred to the Lorber, Greenfield & Polito office in San Diego and San Francisco, respectively. My current practice is approximately 60% construction defect and 40% general liability. During the course of my practice, I have tried in excess of 30 cases to verdict.
