Robert G. Xides, Jr. has been a partner in the firm since 1989, a member of the firm since 1982 and an attorney since 1976. Admitted to practice throughout Pennsylvania and in the United States Federal Courts, Mr. Xides has great experience in a number of legal areas.
Litigation Experience. An experienced litigator, Mr. Xides has represented clients in a wide variety of judicial settings including trial courts, appellate courts, arbitrations and administrative hearings. He has successfully litigated cases in a variety of fields including real estate, zoning and land use, evictions, foreclosures, bankruptcy, and decedent’s estates.
Real Estate Practice. Mr. Xides has helped people and businesses buy, sell, develop and take possession of real estate for decades. He has developed particular skill in obtaining possession and ownership of properties for clients through devices such as the Pennsylvania Abandoned and Blighted Property Act (Act 135 of 2008) and recent amendments to the Pennsylvania Probate, Estates and Fiduciary Code. He also has extensive experience in laws of homeowners associations, including appointments by the Alleghany County Court of Common Pleas as Temporary Receiver to a homeowners association.
Zoning and Land Use. Mr. Xides has successfully represented every type of clients in the zoning and land use process, including developers, municipal bodies, landowners and objectors to development. His municipal clients have included boroughs, townships, zoning boards, a municipal authority and a council of governments. He has served since 1997 as Solicitor to the Elizabeth Township Zoning Hearing Board. As Solicitor to the Frazer Transportation Authority, he helped develop a public-private partnership to construct an expressway interchange.
Estates and Trust Practice. Mr. Xides has successful experience in all aspects of estates and trusts practice, including estate and trust planning, administration and litigation. He has served as counsel to individuals and estates, agents under power of attorney, executor of estates and counsel to trustees. He has also represented individuals in estate litigation.
Evictions and Foreclosure. Mr. Xides has represented a wide variety of clients seeking to enforce their rights in real estate, including landlords, mortgage holders and municipal lien holders. He has brought properties to sheriff sale through both mortgage foreclosure and enforcement of municipal liens through writs of scire facias. He has frequently represented landlords in evictions proceedings, but does not represent residential tenants.
Education and Professional Associations. Mr. Xides is a magna cum laude graduate of American University in Washington, D.C. and a graduate of University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He is a member of the Alleghany County Bar Association, and the former chair of its Municipal and School Solicitors Section. He has served as counsel to the Real Estate Investors Association (REIA) of Western Pennsylvania, and is a frequent speaker at its meetings.
Community Service.Mr. Xides believes in contributing to communities as well as representing them. An Eagle Scout, he served for many years on the Board of the Greater Pittsburgh Counsel of the Boy Scouts of America. An active Rotarian for over 25 years, he is an active Freemason and a member or former member of several Masonic Bodies. Mr. Xides served for several years as Board President for Womensplace, a non-profit women’s shelter. He has also served his church as a member of the Finance Committee and as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
