Rob graduated from Fairfield University in 1981 with a BA degree and from New England Law in 1984 with a J.D. degree. After graduating Rob became an Assistant State's Attorney prosecuting and trying cases for the State of Connecticut for approximately four years before moving into private practice focusing on DUI and criminal defense. Rob received certification in completion and competency as a breath test operator. He is also a certified instructor in standardized field sobriety test procedures by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Rob is past chairman of the Connecticut Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section and maintains an ex-officio status on their Executive Committee. He is also co-chairman of the Hartford County Bar Association's Criminal Justice Committee. Rob is a member of the Hartford County Bar Association, Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. Rob is also a founding member of the National College of DUI Defense.

Rob has lectured for the Hartford County Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association and Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association on the subjects of DUI and expert witnesses. He has been a guest speaker on WTIC 1080's Mornings with Ray and Diane on the subject of DUI and WTIC 1080's John Matulis' Law Talk.
