Attorney Robert Bruner considers his work on behalf of injured people to be the best possible role he can fill as a lawyer.
Mr. Bruner has more than a decade of experience representing seriously injured individuals and families who have lost loved ones to the negligence of others. He has seen first-hand how a personal injury case can make a significant difference in someone’s life and considers it incredibly rewarding to represent people who were hurt or suffered losses through no fault of their own.
Mr. Bruner focuses his practice on serious injury and wrongful death cases, including catastrophic car and truck accidents, medical malpractice, and product liability claims. A skilled and experienced trial lawyer, Mr. Bruner is board-certified in trial advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Requirements for board certification include documentation of significant trial experience, peer review by lawyers and judges, and the successful completion of an extensive written examination.
Mr. Bruner grew up working in his father’s law practice, watching his dad represent individuals in criminal and personal injury cases. From an early age, he realized how important it was for people facing long odds within the legal system to have a strong advocate. He attended law school at Wake Forest University in North Carolina and earned his law degree in 2003.
During law school, he learned trial and leadership skills as captain of the National Trial Team, president of the Student Trial Bar, and a member of the Moot Court Board. Upon graduation he was selected for membership in the Order of the Barristers and received the Robert Goldberg Award for Trial Advocacy, Wake Forest’s highest trial advocacy honor.
Before beginning work with Kit Belt in 2011, Mr. Bruner gained extensive experience representing seriously injured individuals in complex lawsuits while working at other Birmingham firms. This included five years working directly for and learning from well-known Alabama trial lawyer Lanny Vines.
In addition to board certification, Mr. Bruner has been recognized as among the “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” in Alabama by The National Trial Lawyers and selected as an Alabama Super Lawyer in the field of plaintiff’s personal injury litigation. He also holds the “AV Preeminent” rating conferred by the national legal publication Martindale-Hubbell. This is Martindale-Hubbell’s highest rating for both ethical standards and legal ability and is based upon peer review by judges and fellow attorneys.
What Mr. Bruner values most as a lawyer is the ability to get results for people who have been catastrophically injured. He approaches every case with compassion and respect for the injured person, and tenacity when fighting on their behalf. He’s proud to have been able to recover numerous multi-million dollar settlements or verdicts, but even more so to have gotten his clients results that affected their lives for the better after a serious injury.
Mr. Bruner and his wife, Brooke, are the proud parents of two girls, Caroline and Kate.
