Ronald Backer is an attorney who practices in both the Real Estate Department and the Commercial & Business Litigation Department of Rothman Gordon. Appointed Chair of the Real Estate Department in 2015, he specializes in transactional work, such as negotiating commercial leases and real estate purchases and sales, He also represents clients in real estate tax assessment appeals. He has authored two pieces on Pennsylvania Landlord Remedies: “Pennsylvania Landlord Remedies: Collection of Rent and Recovery of Possession” and “Pennsylvania Landlord Remedies: An Update”, for Dickinson Law Review and has lectured extensively on that subject. With regard to litigation, he represents clients across the spectrum, including real estate, business and corporate disputes, will contests, labor and employment matters, and zoning hearings.
Prior to joining Rothman Gordon, Ron served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Maurice Louik in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County.
Ron received his B.S., summa cum laude, and his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He was the Executive Note Editor for the University of Pittsburgh Law Review from 1975 – 1976 and authored “Leong v. Takasaki: Greater Protection Against Negligently Inflicted Emotional Distress” for the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Ron is rated AV® Preeminent™ by Martindale Hubbell.
