Rusty grew up in and attended public schools in Madison, Boone County, West Virginia. After graduation in 1979 from Scott High School, he attended and graduated from Marshall University with a BA in political science in 1983, then attended one year of graduate school in 1984.
Rusty attended Ohio Northern University, Claude W. Pettit College of Law from 1984 to 1985. During the summer of 1985, he attended the University of Notre Dame’s London Law Centre in London, United Kingdom, where he studied international law. Upon returning to the United States, he was accepted to transfer to the West Virginia University College of Law where he graduated with a doctor of juris prudence degree in May of 1987.
Legal and Political Career
Mr. Webb has spent the past 33 years serving the state of West Virginia as an attorney, legislator and influencer.
In 1996, he was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates and served for four terms. During his eight years as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, he served on the Education, Constitutional Revision (Minority Chair), Judiciary, Banking and Insurance, Veterans Affairs and, Industry and Labor/ Economic Development and Small Business (Minority Chair) committes.
In February, 2006, he established Webb Law Centre, PLLC, in Charleston, West Virginia in which he practices a variety of personal law including, accidents, employment discrimination, sexual harassment, serious medical malpractice, product liability, prescription drug recall, nursing home abuse and neglect, class actions and mass torts.
Mr. Webb has successfully presented a number of Petitions for Appeal to the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia on a variety of issues.
Philosophy
As the son of a coal miner, Rusty knows how difficult it was for working class people to assert their rights against big corporations. This upbringing, along with his Christian beliefs, has guided him throughout his distinguished legal and political career. His practice focuses primarily on representing regular people who need help having their voice heard in the legal system.
Rusty is well-known in the Charleston community and throughout West Virginia as an advocate for working class people and as a supporter of many non-profit initiatives.
Personal Life
He was raised in Madison, Boone County, West Virginia. His mother is a retired real estate agent and lives in Charleston. His father, a union coal miner, died in 1987.
Rusty is married to Robin and they live in Charleston, West Virginia. He has two stepsons, Matthew and Adam, both are graduates of Marshall University and are practicing RNs. His daughter, Alexa, is a college student.
Rusty was a member of the Marshall University Men’s Swim Team and while a law student at West Virginia University, he was a member of the University’s Crew Team (Rowing). He has the distinction of being the only student athlete in West Virginia to compete in two different college sports at each university.
He is a lifelong outdoorsman and although his busy career limits all of the types of hunting he enjoyed as a teenager, he finds time to deer hunt for one week each fall and estimates that he is on the water approximately sixty days per year fishing for small-mouth bass. Still athletic, he is a huge tennis fan and plays virtually every day.
