Following law school, Spencer clerked for both a federal district court judge (Eastern District of Texas) and a federal appellate court judge (Fifth Circuit). Spencer also has an extensive background in federal, state, and local politics, having worked for a U.S. congressman and U.S. senator, as executive director of a state political party, and as the current treasurer for the Mississippi Republican Party and chairman of the Hinds County Republican Party.
Spencer’s work in the political arena includes representation of businesses, trade associations, political action committees, nonprofits, candidates for public office, and other individuals and entities involved in the political process. Spencer is a former member of the Mississippi Ethics Commission and regularly advises candidates, office holders and other individuals on Mississippi’s ethics in government laws, campaign finance laws, and public records laws. He also has appeared before local government bodies on behalf of clients in land use and zoning matters.
