In 1985, he received his undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice. Stephen attended law school at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, and received his Juris Doctor degree in 1989. He began practicing law in Georgia, working with a solo practitioner, where he was exposed to and learned from a variety of bankruptcy and family law cases. After being admitted to the Florida Bar and moving to Florida in 1990, he worked as an associate in a small Orlando law firm until 1991 when he opened his own practice. Over the past decades, Stephen has been honored to represent thousands of clients throughout the Central Florida community and beyond. Stephen proudly holds membership in the Orange County Bankruptcy Association, the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association, and the Florida Bar Family Law Section. He was recently appointed to serve on the Ninth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee and was awarded the Champion of Excellence Award by the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association, Inc. Stephen previously served as an active participant in the Boy Scouts Explorer Program, tutoring high school children interested in the practice of law. He has also done extensive volunteer work as part of Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Currently, Stephen is an active member of the Team Selection Committee for Florida Citrus Sports, scouting college football teams for the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl and the Russell Athletic Bowl.
