Biography
About Stephen Ulan — Attorney of Pennsylvania personal injury experience
Stephen Ulan is an attorney based in Philadelphia, PENNSYLVANIA. The practice focuses on Personal Injury. Currently practicing at Law Offices of Judy Greenwood PC.
Steve was born, raised, educated and has spent his professional life in the southeastern Pennsylvania region graduating from Haverford College with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and from Temple University School of Law in 1975 with a juris doctorate. He always preferred representing “real people” like those he grew up with and had known all his life, and fighting for the underdog. Representing injured victims of doctor, hospital and nursing mistakes, and of other types of general negligence was a natural fit when he joined Judy Greenwood in this boutique injury practice. He is intelligent, knowledgeable, hardworking, dedicated, strategic, thorough, and innovative. He communicates well with his clients, and always listens to their concerns. As a strong and skillful legal advocate he is the backbone of the firm’s injury team.
Before joining the injury team at the Law Offices of Judy Greenwood in 1994, Steve first represented those who could not afford counsel in civil actions through two legal services programs, then worked for the City of Philadelphia enforcing housing, building and health codes. Steve then switched his legal focus and worked in a plaintiffs’ personal injury firm providing representation in all types of injury cases and later in a labor firm representing union workers in serious personal injury matters including auto accidents, product liability matters, medical negligence, and premises liability claims.
When he joined Judy Greenwood in practice in 1994 he continued his interest in plaintiffs’ personal injury cases, but increased his focus on significant medical malpractice cases, medical negligence cases, and cases of nursing neglect as part of the firm’s concentration on the representation of injured victims in medical, nursing and hospital litigation cases in Pennsylvania. Having nearly 35 years of experience representing victims of medical and other professional negligence in Pennsylvania, Steve’s practice is now concentrated on hospital, doctor, and nursing errors and mistakes which result in serious and catastrophic injury to men, women, infants, and children.
Steve has been recognized for his legal advocacy skills by the National Trial Lawyers Association which has named him as a top 100 lawyer in Pennsylvania, and by US News and World Reports which recognized him as a Best Lawyer in Pennsylvania. He has been consistently rated as an AV Preeminent Lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell receiving the highest possible ratings for his professional skill, communication skills, and integrity.
Steve is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Association for Justice and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. He has authored and co-authored articles with Judy Greenwood on various areas of their representation including: The Life Cycle of Medical Malpractice Lawsuits, Medical Malpractice Basics,Hospital Negligence, The Birth Injury Case, Failure to Diagnose Breast Cancer, Pregnancy High Blood Pressure, Medical Malpractice in Stroke Cases, Misdiagnosis of Skin Cancer , Informed Consent, and Medical Malpractice Damages.
