Ted von Keller grew up in Camden, South Carolina, and graduated from Camden High School in 1971. He attended the University of South Carolina from which he graduated in 1975 with a B.A. Degree in History. While an undergraduate, he was a member of the USC Soccer Club and was awarded an exchange scholarship by the Department of History to attend the University of Warwick in Coventry, United Kingdom. After undergraduate school he obtained his M.A.T. in History from the University of South Carolina graduate school.
Mr. von Keller thereafter taught high school history and coached soccer at The Joseph Kershaw Academy in Camden, South Carolina from 1976 to 1981, and he was the Assistant Headmaster during the 1980 – 1981 school year. In 1981 he taught psychology and United States and European History at the Hammond Academy in Columbia, South Carolina. Mr. von Keller enrolled in law school at the USC School of Law in 1982 and graduated in 1985. While at the USC School of Law, he was a member of The Moot Court Bar and The Order of Barristers, winning the Moot Court competition in 1983 before the South Carolina Supreme Court. Mr. von Keller also was an Instructor of Legal Writing during his third year of law school.
After graduating from law school, Mr. von Keller worked first as an associate, then as a partner at the law firm of Adams, Quackenbush, Herring & Stuart in Columbia, South Carolina, which later changed its name to Berry, Quackenbush & Stuart, P.A. Mr. von Keller was later a partner at Leath, Bouch, Crawford & von Keller from 2008 until he formed Crawford and von Keller, LLC in 2010.
Mr. von Keller’s practice for 35 years has been in litigation. He is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Trial School and has extensive trial experience in all state and federal courts. His emphasis is on general defense litigation, creditor’s rights litigation and commercial litigation, bankruptcy and landlord tenant law.
Mr. von Keller is admitted to the Richland County Bar; the South Carolina Bar; United States District Court District of South Carolina; and United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Mr. von Keller is a member of the Richland County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar Association, the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association, the South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association and the American Bar Association.
Ted lives in Blythewood, South Carolina with his wife, Kim. His daughter, Elizabeth, is also an attorney in Columbia, SC.
