Biography

Ashley Barriere, class action attorney serving Chicago

Ashley Barriere is an attorney based in Chicago, ILLINOIS. The practice focuses on Class Action and Product Liability. Currently practicing at Keller Postman LLC. Ashley works from Chicago, Illinois and takes on class action matters across the region.

Ashley Barriere is a Partner at Keller Postman LLC. Ashley’s vast knowledge of product liability multi-district litigation combined with her AmLaw25 defense-side experience allows Ashley to effectively litigate against behemoth corporations on behalf of her clients.

At Keller Postman, Ashley focuses on significant product-liability matters. Ashley currently helps lead the firm’s litigation against the manufacturers and sellers of acetaminophen which causes autism spectrum disorder and/or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder when a child is exposed in utero. The Honorable Denise Cote, who presides over the federal consolidation of those cases In the Acetaminophen—ASD-ADHD Products Liability Litigation, MDL 3043 in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, appointed Ashley to serve on the Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee for that litigation where she leads the Law and Briefing Subcommittee. Ashley is honored to lead the litigation on behalf of children and their families who have unfairly suffered because mothers were not properly warned of the dangers associated with taking acetaminophen while pregnant.

Ashley has additional, significant mass tort experience. She represents clients and briefs critical legal issues in the 3M Products Liability Litigation, MDL 2885. She has been involved in every facet of that litigation from fact discovery, to bellwether trials, to post-trial briefing. She served on a bellwether trial team that secured an $8 million verdict for the plaintiff. She is also a member of the court-appointed Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the Onglyza and Kombiglyze XR MDL, MDL 2809, where she chairs the Law and Briefing Subcommittee.

Ashley has also been formally recognized for her exceptional work. She has been named a 2023 Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America. For three years, she was also the Mayor’s Appointee to the Quality Assurance Review Committee for the New Orleans Inspector General.

Before joining Keller Postman, Ashley was a litigation associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, where she litigated critical bankruptcy cases and played a role in significant white-collar investigations. Ashley then joined Huber Thomas & Marcelle LLP, where she gained critical courtroom experience. She represented plaintiffs and defendants at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal litigation, as well as creditors and debtors in complex bankruptcies.

Ashley also served as a law clerk for Judge Eldon E. Fallon at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Ashley became inspired to join the plaintiffs’ side because of Judge Fallon’s trailblazing work overseeing large multi-district litigation matters. At the time of her clerkship, Judge Fallon presided over the Chinese Drywall Products Liability MDL, Vioxx Products Liability MDL, and the Xarelto Products Liability MDL, where she had the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the MDL world. She applies those early lessons to her work today, always striving to reach the peak level of excellence and over-emphasizing preparation.

Ashley currently serves as a Board Member of the Young Lawyers Division for the Federal Bar Association (New Orleans chapter) and is also the Vice President for the Association for Women Attorneys.

Ashley graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. Ashley also earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated magna cum laude and received the Lynn M. Case Prize for best European history thesis.
