Before joining McDivitt Law Firm, David was formerly a Deputy Public Defender with the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender where he earned the reputation as a highly successful and experienced trial lawyer. A frequent legal analyst and contributor to local and national television news and radio, David has been named one of the National Trial Lawyer’s Association’s Top 40 Trial Lawyers under 40.

David devotes 100 percent of his time to representing those injured in auto accidents, victims of drunk drivers, victims of defective products and machinery, those who have been seriously or catastrophically injured due to the negligence of others, and those whose loved ones have been killed due to the negligence of others (wrongful death claims).

In addition to his work with McDivitt Law Firm, David sits on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the state’s largest specialty legal bar association, and is also a multi-term member of its select Executive Committee. In these capacities, David is involved in decision making at the highest levels within Colorado’s trial lawyer community. David is also the Co-Chair of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association’s EAGLE Committee, which works to ensure the laws of Colorado protect the rights of individuals and those hurt by someone else’s wrongdoing. In 2010, David was awarded the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association’s “Membership Volunteer of the Year Award” for his commitment to the membership of the organization.

David actively works to support legislation designed to protect the rights of injured victims, workers, and consumers. David frequently testifies before both the Colorado State Senate Judiciary Committee and the House Judiciary Committee as an expert on behalf of various legislation designed to protect the rights of those injured due to the negligence of others, including those injured by drunk drivers. In addition to his work at the State Capitol, David has been a featured speaker at the largest annual gathering of auto accident and wrongful death trial lawyers in Colorado, speaking about changes in the law designed to protect injured victims’ rights to pursue their claims against wrongdoers.David is a proud father of two young children. He is active in his community, supporting a number of local and national charitable organizations.

David received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he graduated magna cum laude and was honored with admission into Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s most prestigious academic honor society. He was also the recipient of the Dean’s Scholars Arts and Sciences Scholarship and the Alumni Association Scholarship, and was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. During his undergraduate years, David also studied economics, accounting, computer science, and archaeology at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, and also attended the University of Paris, Sorbonne, where he earned a certification in the French language.After graduation, he worked for several years as an investment banker in London. David received his Juris Doctor from the University of Colorado School of Law. During his tenure at law school, he served as an editor of the University of Colorado Law Review, was the winner of the Carrigan Cup Mock Trial Competition, the William O. DeSouchet Award for “Best Individual Performance in Trial Advocacy,” and the “Colorado Trial Lawyer’s Association-Joel H. Greenstein Award for Best Performance in Advanced Trial Advocacy.” David has been admitted to the Colorado Bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 10th Circuit. His professional memberships include the American Association for Justice (also known as the Association of Trial Lawyers of America), the Colorado Trial Lawyer’s Association, the American Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, the Denver Bar Association, and the El Paso County Bar Association.
