Mr. Schwartz was born in New York City on October 22, 1955. He grew up in Massachusetts and attended McGill University in Montreal, Canada, receiving his B.A. in 1977, Magna Cum Laude and as a University Scholar. He attended University of Miami School of Law, earned his J.D. in 1981, and was admitted to the Florida Bar on January 21, 1982. He was admitted to the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, that same year, and to the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit, in 1983. Prior to entering into private practice, Mr. Schwartz was a law clerk for the Honorable Joseph Nesbitt of the District Court of Appeal for the Third District of Florida.

Mr. Schwartz has extensive trial experience in personal injury and insurance defense, as well as construction defect, premises, motor vehicle and product liability cases. He has defended countless nursing home negligence cases from notice of intent to conclusion. He has defended class actions. He has tried numerous cases to verdict in several Florida counties.
