My work is helping clients solve complicated problems. Individuals and corporations hire me to investigate and represent them on significant and potentially devastating matters, often in crisis or on an emergency basis. I handle a broad range of matters, including catastrophic personal injury, wrongful death, insurance, business disputes, corporate negotiations, commercial litigation, product liability suits, professional issues, administrative and regulatory crises, trademark/tradedress, and wage & hour concerns, among others. I have been recognized for my work in mediation, arbitration and trial. My work has expanded beyond Utah to serve clients on a regional and national basis.I appreciate the recognition of my peers, including the highest rating, AV Preeminent, from Martindale-Hubbell; being honored as one of the "Top 25" lawyers in Salt Lake City, and as one of the "Top 100" lawyers in our five-state Intermountain region (Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming -- Super Lawyers/Thomson Reuters); as well as "Legal Elite" by Utah Business magazine (since 2005). In 2012 and 2016, Utah Business recognized me as one of the top mediators in the state. I have been afforded opportunities to serve and lead. I have been president of the National Caucus of State Bar Associations, the Western States Bar Conference, the Utah State Bar, and Utah's Young Lawyer's Division, and I have chaired the Personal Injury Section of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, and the Dispute Resolution Section of the Utah State Bar. I serve on the Executive Council of the National Conference of Bar Presidents, (currently as Treasurer) and have chaired two NCBP committees -- 21st Century Lawyer, and Diversity & Inclusion. I serve in the ABA's House of Delegates. I am president of the National Legal Mentoring Consortium. Governor Herbert has re-appointed me to another term on Utah's Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission. I have served on three Utah Supreme Court advisory committees, an ABA standing committee, and several other industry, professional, nonprofit, university and community boards and committees.
