Robert McLaughlin was born and raised in Washington, D.C., where his father and grandfathers devoted their careers to public service. After graduating from high-school, Mr. McLaughlin and his family moved to Tampa to enjoy all that Florida offers and also escape the cold Washington winters.

He attended the University of South Florida and graduated with a B.S. in accounting. Upon finishing his undergraduate studies, Mr. McLaughlin followed in his grandfather’s footsteps and studied the law. Mr. McLaughlin attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law, graduating with honors in 1999.

After finishing school, Mr. McLaughlin served as a prosecutor with the Office of the State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida from 1999 to 2003. In that time, he gained valuable jury trial experience in cases involving serious felonies such as DUI manslaughter, attempted murder, and sexual battery.

Following his time as a state prosecutor, Mr. McLaughlin entered private practice with the Tampa office of a national defense firm in 2003. He was a partner in the firm’s Automotive Practice Group, defending auto manufacturers before juries and arbitration panels throughout the state of Florida until 2012.

In 2012, Mr. McLaughlin joined a Florida defense firm in order to focus his practice exclusively on personal injury. In 2015, he followed his true calling and devoted his practice to representing those who have been wrongfully injured, and in 2018 he joined Morgan & Morgan's Tampa office.
